I just began a page like this. See production services
When people say they think rapid prototyping needs example item one, I build example item one. Also, this wiki is supposed to get people involved in rapid prototyping, more specifically the helix. There is only one user of the helix, and maybe another one in a month or so.
The Extruder is the part of a rapid prototyper that lays material down. Without an extruder, you have nothing, really.
You would need to know what you want to build, how much money you are willing to spend, and how much time you are willing to spend.
I think that RepRap has a nice base of users, but needs to think out of the small little comfort zone they are sealed in currently.
People will find the site if there is enough content. A good wiki needs no advertisement or promotion.
I guess it informs us all about the world of rapid prototyping. It also gets people talking about improvements that can be made, and I take that and put it into action.
Can you try to expand on this? :)

I guess it informs us all about the world of rapid prototyping. It also gets people talking about improvements that can be made, and I take that and put it into action. It took me almost 5 hours of searching to find the RepRap project. My problem now is that it would take most people 12 hours to find this site. Unless of course they search for " rapid prototyping tehraptor reprapper tech-diy automata extruder" which is unlikely. Ill see what Tehraptor thinks.
Answer this question :
How will the Rapid Prototyping Wiki change the world?

Alright. There are a number of things I have noticed about my sites. One: No one is on them. Two: They are filled with cobwebs. Three: They are collecting dust.
When Tehraptor first created the Rapid Prototyping Wiki for me, I never realized it needed to be updated for info to flow, or how important it is to DOCUMENT INFORMATION. Now I have the Rapid Prototyping Wiki, and Tech-DIY. They have both been Idle, collecting dust in a corner. I have a new horizon for this wiki. Of course, I cannot do this alone. I will work a little in the forum, and add a ton of new info. Anyone else, please help me out!!!
Also please note: If I can get these sites cleaned up, I will officially release the Helix 1.2 for other people to build. That will also speed up reasearch. I will sell the parts online, besides the reprap electronics, and use the profits for development. Helix 2.0 Automata is nearer than I thought.
What do you mean? I think you have the wrong thread.
I have Created two irc channels for the rapid prototyping wiki. View them here: IRC

I now have a feed of the RP Wiki Forum / Wiki changes / posts on my personal wiki so anything you do I'll notice it and probably come by to help.

If you look on the bottom of the bottle, it will tell you.
That is indeed a very, very, good question…
Quite a bit. Rapid Prototyping has several advantages. One: it is addative manufacturing (building the object, not cutting stuff off a cube), and you will only use what is needed. Two: It is very simple to understand, and to use it you just upload files to the software, fill the extruder, and click build. Three: It is very versatile, and almost any material can be used.
Until recently, I did not know how it worked either. What it does is it spreads sugar out on the extrusion platform, and blasts hot air at the sugar to melt it, then let it harden.
Fab@home uses silicone, RepRap uses ABS, PLY, CAPA, HDPE, etc. , CandyFab uses sugar, Z-corp uses magic z-corp material box stuff. Everyone uses something different, although the idea is generally to create a solid object, no matter what material you are using.
The only thing I could think of is a repairman. other than that, what else would someone hire you to do? (the machine already fixes so much)
Yes, it is. I cant remember where i saw it, but on the web somewhere is a description of a certain interesting sculpture of that sort. It is a car with big ice spikes!
