Our own rapid prototyper is deserving of its own page now, I believe. Helix 1.0 is a first generation machine that serves 4 purposes.
1.) To prove that rapid prototyping is simple and easy
2.) To demonstrate the capabilities of Tech-DIY
3.) To build new Helix machines that are stronger and more efficient
4.) I just have to say it, To make delicious cookies with decorative frosting (the main Helix 1.0 material is frosting)
Helix 1.0 is scheduled for completion on may 20th, but until then, we can say that the machine has only one problem to overcome. After, we will take some pictures, and if all turns out right, we may be creating a thermoplastic extruder for work on more helix parts to make Helix 1.1. Here is a sneak peak at possible names for the next generation machines:
2.0 - Helix 2.0 Automata
3.0 - Helix 3.0 Mobic
4.0 - Helix 4.0 Leo
5.0 - Helix 5.0 Continuum
